I have thought for years now that the future of converging technologies would include Cable TV vanishing as we know it. The future, as I thought, would include TV and all streaming media coming directly through our wireless routers and Ethernet connections. BOXEE puts us one step closer to that reality.
In short BOXEE is a media aggregator with some super slick UI elements. The free software will install easily to your windows / Mac media server, PC, or laptop and works best when connected to your HD TV via HDMI cable.
From there you can search for media on NetFlix, YouTube.com, Pandora or your own collection stored on your hard drive (plus tons more!)
BOXEE doesn’t really stop there, it also brings together your photo collection and allows you to search for Media on popular services such as Digg and Crackle.
It’s these types of services that makes me love the internet. It has been one of the joy’s in my life to watch the internet grow, and BOXEE makes me proud to have seen the progression from the start.
