How To Choose The Right Affiliate Products

If you’ve read the Harry Potter series, you will remember the statement – The wand chooses its owner. In a wacky sense of way, the same is true with affiliate marketing also!prodstew

We’ve seen numerous affiliate marketing success stories, and usually they all start off open to selling any kind of products. Over time, they specialize in one particular niche, and build their reputation recommending products in that particular category. Most of you reading this article also would agree with this.

There are a few simple factors which can help you choose the best affiliate products to sell

  • Where are you selling from?

If you are looking to make affiliate sales, you will have a few online marketplaces from where affiliates pick up the products they’d like to promote – like ClickBank, and Commission Junction. All the different sites have their specialties, and choose wisely from among the product list. There are a lot of new commission sites too, but ask around before you start promoting their products.

  • Gravity

If you’ve been in affiliate marketing, you would know what this means. This is a percentage of conversion and a calculation that measures how many people are interested in this product by taking an average of visitors versus buyers. The better the gravity, the better the possibility of making the sale.

  • One time or Recurring

The next question you ask yourself is whether the product you are promoting gives you money one time (for a single transaction product) or whether it gives you money on a regular basis (for monthly billing products). Both are good – you choose whichever appeals to you.

  • Have you used the product yourself?

This is actually the acid test. If you have not used the product yourself, you should atleast have thorough knowledge on it and should have interacted with people who’ve genuinely used it. That is what forms your confidence and that confidence will be picked up by your visitors, and sales will increase significantly.

Like we said in the beginning, use these rules to identify products which look good to you and try promoting them. With time, you will become good at a particular niche and your site will get recognized for that particular line of products. Then you can specialize in it and strike it big.

Most of all, trust your instinct, and you will see the product jumping out at your from the huge list on your screen. Most of the time, those instincts prove right.
