I see a lot of programs that promise to help you find a profitable Niche when the reality is that finding a profitable niche is rather easy.
Let’s do a quick mental exercise . . . I want you to think of something you have seen at Wal-Mart for sell . . . great you got it?
I thought of “cleaning supplies”, so now I am going to go to Google and search “cleaning supplies”.
I found that there are 27+ million results and I see a healthy number of Sponsored links on the right hand side. This tells me right off the bat that advertising and promoting “cleaning supplies” on the internet can be a profitable and lead to me making money online.
You can then back this up by searching on eBay and Amazon for items that are for sell related to the specific niche you have chosen.
So if you were going to target this particular Niche to make money online then your next step would be to set up a web site, find a supplier, and start promoting.
Plan and Strategize How to Make Money Online
Once you have a niche in your head, I always look towards how I am going to actually make money online with that particular niche. Back to our above example . . . the last thing I want to do is stock my garage with smelly products and start shipping orders. Now some might want to do this, but think about when you want to take a vacation with your family and you have 100 orders that need packing (who will ship them out)?
With that said I have learned that when un-covering if a niche is profitable of not I look to how I can monetize the niche and allow me to avoid as much brick and mortar as possible.
I tend to look at larger affiliate networks to see if they have product offerings for the niche I am researching. For “cleaning products”, I might check out the eBay partner network. If I found that there is sufficient volume to be had I would then start to consider what kind of web site I wanted to set up and start to plan my promotion.
Promoting Your Niche
“If you build it they will come” does not work when talking affiliate marketing and making money online. You need to plan a solid promotional campaign.
A solid marketing campaign will include all of the elements of internet marketing. Once I asked a question to a guru when I first started out . . . the question was “Is it better to run PPC or SEO to my landing pages” he answer was both simple and yet profound “Your building a landing page right? . . . then why not do both?”
A lot of affiliates make the mistake when trying to make money online of building 1 landing page in 1 niche and running their entire budget to 1 keyword. If you do this, you WILL fail at affiliate marketing and it will be no one’s fault but your own.
Get a plan together and target long tail keywords for both your PPC and SEO strategies.
