Making It BIG With YouTube.com!

Cory Williams “Mr. Safety Guy” is a YouTube.com pro. He was one of 30 individuals initially chosen to be a part of the YouTube.com partners program and now through advertisement rev. share, Cory is bringing home about $8,000 / month.

It might sounds easy, but making this kind of scratch with YouTube.com is not an easy task. So far Cory has over 350,000 subscribers (dedicated followers) and 120 million + video views.

Another top YouTube.com partner is Ryan Higa who told USA Today that his income was “better than a part-time job.” Ryan has more subscribes than anyone else on YouTube.com.

But when you look at the profitability of top YouTube.com producers like the above 2 or Justine Ezarik, you realize the amount of work that goes into their production. Justine who runs the channel “iJustine”, says she makes about $75,000 / year with her efforts, but also admits to working about 70 hours / week.

So while we enjoy a quick 5 – 10 minute blip of the producers life, there is an insane amount of work that goes into each video.

Shane Dawson (who won’t say how much he makes) serves as his own Writer, Producer, Film & lighting crew, promoter, and editor. Monday he writes, Tuesday he sets up his props, Wednesday he films, Thursday he edits, Friday he promotes, and finally on Saturday at 8 a.m. he releases his video.

This reminds me of a video adventure that went bust under my hands.

About 3 years ago, while eating French fries with Joel, we decided to make a film about his life and his pursuit of hot women.

The show “Elletopia” was going to be a miniseries about him trying to find a date. After 1 – 2 episode Joel got cold feet, when we went to take out a full page ad in the local paper advertising the show and the dating contest.

I can’t help but think it would have been “huge”.
