Successful People Don’t Use Their Brains…Really

I’m amazed at some of the blog posts and articles I read.

Not because of their dazzling brilliance and formulas to end world hunger or solutions to bring about world peace…however, it’s the analysis paralysis structure they are written in, forcing readers to become overly dependent on Blogger Bob’s opinion before moving on with life.

Case in point: a recent article on Clickz.com (a great site about digital marketing tips.) – A Dozen Things to Think About When Launching an Online Business

Everything seems fine until you start reading.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read many of Robin’s articles…and will continue to do so. This time, however, I would like to open up the floor for discussion.

A Dozen Things to Think About…

What’s wrong with this picture?

Why not list 11 things…or perhaps 13? I’m not trying to argue over semantics or sit under the proverbial shade tree and philosophize over Robin’s article.

Here’s my point: for the average potential online entrepreneur, the biggest barrier to overcome “when launching an online business”, is not whether they should do a “soft launch” or “secure appropriate funding.” Quieting the lizard brain, is the biggest hurdle most need to jump over before setting up an eBay account or purchasing a domain name.

There are people who have mounds of junk waiting for the online auction block…but unfortunately it will probably be displayed on A&E before an eBay listings page.

The problem doesn’t lie in sharing optimization techniques or encouraging someone to consider a Yahoo store before deciding on Amazon.

I’m discussing a bigger idea

The idea that says “Don’t think too much…go create Windows so billions of people can have access to a personal computer.”

The idea that says “build the Model T so everyone will have a car to drive…no matter what the naysayers think.”

The idea that says “run for President even though you’re a unknown Senator and the odds are stacked against you…run because you want to change the world. (History was made regardless of your political preference.)

The idea that says “I’m going to start an international shipping service…even though my professor thinks I’m crazy.”

You get the IDEA?

Yes, Robin is right about all 12 points. You should consider everyone one of them at some point: once you overcome the WHEN part.

Until then, here’s my One Thing to Think About When Launching an Online Business:

Just Do It

I considered writing my own list of A Dozen Things to NOT Think About When Launching an Online Business…

But, I figured it would make you think too much.

As always, I hope this article has been helpful…If you have any questions or comments or think I should be committed to the nearest institution – feel free to drop me a line.
