The History of Popular Blogs
Today I woke up and was curious about how some of my favorite blogs begin.
I asked a few basic questions. Who, What, & When, Where, & How.
In my exploration, I decided to take a look at these 3 blogs that are among my favorites and who are also in the Technorati Top 100:
=======================================
Who: Michael Arrington (profile, wikipedia)

What: Michael started TechCrunch.com and apparently had the instant vision to see the revolution in web 2.0 and social media. His first blog post was on Technorati and the (at the time) recent re-design.
When: June 11th, 2005 (Read First Post) http://www.techcrunch.com/2005/06/11/technorati-new-improved/
Where: Silicon Valley (of course)
How: Michael is no dud or chance entrepreneur. He holds degrees in both economics and law. He is also the founder of Achex, which is now the back end of Western Union online. Before TechCrunch.com he sold this gem for $32 million.
=======================================
Who: Darren Rowse (profile, wikipedia)

What: Driven by a passion to blog Darren has become an authority on the “How To of Blogging”. I have personally read Darren’s book (Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six Figure Income) and it’s in this book that his passion for truth shines through. Darren is not a snake oil salesman trying to make a quick buck online.
When: September 24, 2004 (Read First Post)
Where: In the Outback (of course) . . . Australia
How: Darren first started a blog about religious matters in a personal blog called LivingRoom.org.au, it was there that he realized his passion for blogging and took it to the next level. Due to his expertise he found himself giving out free advice about the nuts and bolts of blogging. Hence Problogger.net was born.

Who: Pete Cashmore (profile, wikipedia)

What: Pete had an single vision to blog about “all that’s new on the Web”. He has done an amazing job doing just that and in the process he has built one of the top 100 blogs on the internet.
When: July 27th, 2005 (Read First Post)
Where: A Small Town in North Scotland (of course?), now 50% in San Francisco.
How: Pete is obviously an organizational guru. A quick look at the Mashable.com team (http://mashable.com/about/) and you will see its a well organized operation. While Pete is the head, I am sure he would be the first to say that it has taken this team to propel Mashable forward.

Hey Michael-
Count yourself on that list as well.
You have provided some excellent tips and
resources I’ve used on many sites, including
my article directory, so THANKS!
Motown Terri
Thanks Terri . . . . not there yet, but we are pushing hard to get it done.
