The Internet Arms Race
If you are a follower of the news like I am, then you undoubtedly heard of “Climategate”. If you didn’t, it was basically some hackers who gained access to the email accounts of top scientist who were involved in the research of global warming. Since politics and governments are heavily involved in the debate over what to do regarding the earth’s climate, the breech represented more than just some rouge hackers raining havoc on lab geeks.
As news came to light about the email and information leak it was suspected very early on, that the hackers were in fact freelancers for hire. If this turns to be true, (we suspect it will be proven in time), then it serves as a reminder that wars of the future will take place online through information breeches and network attacks.

The New York Times recently reported that, “In the last two years, Internet-based attacks on government and corporate computer systems have multiplied to thousands a day. Hackers, usually never identified, have compromised Pentagon computers, stolen industrial secrets and temporarily jammed government and corporate Web sites.”
It is this phenomena that prompted a delegation headed by Gen. Vladislav P. Sherstyuk, deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, to fly to Washington D.C. for talks about this specific issue.
The goal is to try and limit warfare from taking place online and has pulled in support from not only President Obama, but also the United Nations and top diplomats from the Department of Homeland security.
As in the days of old when new technology decided the victor of a war, today will be no different. The Internet is the new battle field of the world and there is an Internet arms race going on today.

There are a lot of thing one can do with the internet. I wonder if it can be controlled in the future.
great article… Global warming is a fraud. It just a way to suck us into world govt. and a global tax. Anybody want more taxes?
Great work Mike.
