Search engines by nature are designed to index information that is relevant to users and the developers of WordPress have done a remarkable job of creating a system that can deliver that much needed information to the search engines.
Without installing any additional WordPress search engine optimization (SEO) plugins or search engine optimized WordPress themes you will find that there are plenty of tools that can give you a jump start in your marketing efforts.

Permalinks – you can re-write your post and page URL’s to be search engine friendly. This is done through a simple and automated .htaccess modification.
Pinging – by “pinging” various “ping” services you are letting the world know that your blog is out there, alive, and doing well. You can set custom parameters to “ping” multiple sources and each time you add fresh content to your site.
